WHO WE ARE
D-Light Foundation is an organization that focuses on youth and young adults, ages 12 to 29, who are living in at-risk neighborhoods. Our mission is to spread love, knowledge, and opportunities with individuals who may be faced with internal and societal challenges. We provide mentorship, re-integration support for offenders, mediation services, workshop facilitation and talks. We bring our programs to youth/men's community organizations, schools, basketball teams, group homes, prisons, and other institutions.
HOW WE STARTED
D-Light Foundation was founded by Douglas Bampoe, a father, mentor, and entrepreneur. Douglas is committed to providing individuals with some of the opportunities he missed out on as a young man. As a misguided youth, Douglas ended up on the streets. Bad decisions coupled with being in the wrong company led to his serving six-and-a-half years in prison. Douglas's experiences in prison, the tough lessons he learned after being released, and his subsequent return to prison helped to both change his perspectives on life and mold him into the man that he is today. After coming into contact with renowned mindset coach Bob Proctor, Douglas was motivated to apply some of the principles he had learned in the Mindset Coaching Program, and the trajectory of his life changed. Douglas is now committed to sharing the insights and knowledge he has gained in order to help divert other youth from
going down a similar path.
OUR VISION
Our vision is to impact positive and lasting change in the lives of youth and young adults, globally.
MENTORSHIP
Our mentorship program is designed to help youth and young adults learn interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, customer service, and leadership skills. We mentor individuals through job shadowing, where they are introduced to the world of entrepreneurship and business ownership.
Individuals also learn transferrable skills that will aid them in their career or business.
Reports indicate that a significant number of adolescents and young adults in Canada do not have a mentor and, therefore, D-Light Foundation aims to provide substantial mentorship opportunities, year-round, for those in need of a mentor.
Research shows that mentor ship programs for youth improve school succes s and academic performance. According to The Mentoring Effect, a 2014 report by the National Mentoring Partner ship in the US.
45%
of at-risk youth with an adult mentor are enrolled in higher education, compared with 29 percent of their unmentored peers.

IN & OUT PROGRAM
Offenders typically face many challenges upon re-entering society. D-Light Foundation aims to provide solutions to many of the internal and societal challenges that they face as they rebuild bonds with family, make connections with members of society, find employment, and forge meaningful relationships.
This program is uniquely designed to help ex-offenders successfully reintegrate in society. Our IN & OUT Program provides meaningful support to ex-offenders so that they can develop confidence, a sense of belonging, direction, and purpose to become positive contributors to society.
